Ran into an excellent time waster today. You plug in a bit of your writing – should be real creative writing, preferably fiction, not some email or other casual thing – and it tells you who you “write like”. Apparently I write like Douglas Adams. Not sure what the (inevitably totally inaccurate) algorithm is based on, but I would imagine my tendency to string together longer sentences with excessive subordinate clauses played a part. Makes you think a bit about how you write. This little site is popular – Huffington Post took note a few days ago that people all over the web are talking about it. Wouldn’t it be funny if the algorithm on the other end consisted of a random result generator?
